Fathers’ Day 2020. A poem by Helen Davies

It’s the same question every June,
Is it Fathers’ or Father’s Day?
Are we celebrating one father or all fathers?
To be honest it really doesn’t matter but it is important to say,
Today’s a day for those dads like mine who have always been there,
And who still show us the way.

I’m ‘allowed’ to see my dad today,
But I know some of my friends won’t be as lucky as me,
We must also remember those dads who are no longer with us,
Those we are unable to hug or see.

So, Happy Fathers’ Day to my dad Richard and Isla’s Daddy Paul,
Happy Fathers’ Day to all your dads and grandads too,
Without their love and guidance,
We really don’t know what we would do.
